Set of 2 vintage Iconic IKEA Lampan Table Bedside Lamps, as featured in the V&A.

This pair with the clear and smoky perpex bases were released in 2002 ahead of the 2004 IKEA catalogue debut.

The Ikea Lampan table lamp was first designed in 2002 by designers Carl Öjerstam and Magnus Elebäck. The creators accepted a challenge to design "the world's cheapest lamp".they achieved this by bypassing traditional box packaging and designed the lampshade double as a container that holds the base, cord, and plug. the proportions of the lamp were designed to fit as many as possible in a shipping container meaning every aspect of this design was literally driven by prices and this affect proportion directly.
