Lovely vintage pottery piece attributed to Mark Cardew.
This has been press moulded from terracotta clay with a decorative bird design which has been ‘trailed’ or ‘scratched’ into the surface of the slipware and is a free-hand drawing technique producing unique original. designs. This is similar to pieces made at his Wenford Bridge Studio influenced by African pottery, although this is unstamped.
